Barbecued Chicken, Onion and Apple Pizza

American

Terrific party food.
Ingredients
1 medium sweet onion, halved and thinly sliced
1 tart apple, cored and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons butter
2 Boboli or other ready-made pizza shells
1 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
2 cups cooked chicken, shredded
1 tablespoon fresh oregano (or thyme)
1 1/2 cup gouda cheese, shredded
 
Steps
1 Preheat oven to 425°F. In a large skillet, cook onion and apple in hot butter over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion and apple are just tender. Remove from heat.


2 Place pizza shells on two large baking sheets. Spread barbecue sauce over shells. Divide chicken evenly among shells. Arrange onion and apple slices over top. Sprinkle with oregano and cheese.


3 Bake one sheet at time about 10 minutes or until edges are lightly browned and chicken is hot. Cut each pizza into 8 wedges.
