Very Best White Bread for Bread Machine

The sour cream produces a very fine crumb in this slightly sweet, delicious bread. Excellent for sandwiches and toast. |

Ingredients |
|
2 teaspoons active dry yeast
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup milk
2 cups white bread (high gluten) flour (see note below)
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon butter, at room temperature
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon baking soda

Steps
|

|
1 | Place yeast in bottom of bread machine pan, towards outside wall of pan. |
| 2 | Add remaining ingredients. |
| 3 | Select “Light Setting” on machine, then press Start. |
| 4 | When baking cycle ends, remove bread from pan and set on rack to cool. For best results, allow to cool completely before slicing (if you can resist!) |

Notes

You can make your own high-gluten flour: for every cup of regular flour, remove 1 tablespoon flour and replace with 1 tablespoon wheat gluten (available in most natural foods stores and some specialty stores).
